WHO ARE THE RAVEN DANCERS?
The Raven Dancers is a multi-ethnic group that teaches Native American-style dance, music, outfitting, and culture. We coordinate our efforts with elder members of the local Native American community. Our goals are threefold.
» We provide a safe and fun program for people of all ages and backgrounds to nurture within our members a spirit of self-worth and self-expression, and a deeper understanding of the Native American culture. Our emphasis is to help youth.
» We seek to help nurture and promote cultural understanding and diversity; to bring people together to share and respect the rich and wonderful heritage of Native American culture. Many of our members are of Native American descent.
» We provide educational entertainment to community groups throughout the Colorado Front Range. We perform for as many as fifty groups each year. We try to provide accurate and appropriate information, help overcome stereotypical images, and bring a deeper and clearer understanding of Native Americans to all peoples.
Hello I am a Cherokee native. I am nineteen years of age and my daughter is three years of age. I am interested in involving my daughter in dancing. Are these programs you provide free, if not how much do they cost?
We are a multi-ethnic, family-oriented group. We have no membership fees or age requirements. New members are welcome to start at any time. Our members range in age from 3 to mid-60’s. All we ask is a sincere interest and respectful behavior!
We meet most Wednesdays unless the weather turns really nasty, from 7:30 to 9PM. We meet at Spirit of Hope United Methodist Church, 3885 South Broadway, Englewood, CO 80113. Parking is on the east side of the church off Mansfield Ave and Acoma Street , and the entrance is at ground level near the dumpsters.
Check out our website ( http://www.ravendancers.org/ ) for current schedule and map to the church.
Please let me know if you need more info, Bear ;-D
